EFT – So EASY To Do. So Easy NOT To Do.

Have you ever tackled a certain job around the house, office or workplace in a way that takes you several, exhausting hours of focussed effort to complete?

Stickman ShovelingAfter you’re done, have you then realized that a friend or co-worker had, on hand, just the right tool that could have demolished that same job, within minutes, without raising a sweat? It’s something like comparing the use of a hand-saw to a chain-saw when clearing a fallen tree; or a sickle vs a weed-eater when clearing a block of land. That kind thing.

EFTLogo1We’ll, after re-reading my previous post  on “Laughter and Depression”, it hit me, that this was one of those times that I had forgotten that I had, in effect, the equivalent of a “chain-saw” in the “shed”, when I was hacking away at my emotional problem with a “hand-saw”.

In other words, here I had this amazing emotional tool called Emotional Freedom Technique (or EFT) at my disposal, yet I had overlooked using it ! Can you believe it? !!

Do YOU do stuff like that, or is it just me?

Laughter and Depression – Does This Ever Happen To You ?

We’ve all heard the saying that “laughter is the best medicine”, yet it appears that the significance of this is not taken very seriously by most. (Now, if your sense of humor is a little like mine, you’ll immediately pick the potential pun in that last statement; ….. but let’s overlook that for now).

Here’s what happened to me less than an hour ago
that inspired the writing of this post
Can you relate ?

Vincent_Willem_van_Gogh_002I’m generally a very positive sort of guy, with rare bouts of depression. But for whatever reason, I found myself in a downward, emotional spiral this afternoon. It felt like the sunshine around me had disappeared and I was enveloped in this thick, dark cloud. Not fun at all !!!

I moped around for a while, wallowing in a kind of “self-pity”, until my obviously-dimmed state attracted a questioning comment from Karen. So I relayed an account of what I was feeling to her.

As I did so, I sensed a part of me sitting back “watching” all of this and saying to himself, “Wow, isn’t THIS interesting !”

I said a couple of half-hearted sort of positive comments about how this was “just a passing cloud”, but really, in that moment it didn’t seem like it was ever going to end.

Thankfulness IS Powerful SUPPORT for Healthy Living

It seems so appropriate to me that I recommence activities on this site on this Thanksgiving Day, 2007.

Butterfly Beauty of NatureI know that for those of you who are not living in North America, this celebration may not hold much significance in and of itself. However, the idea of consciously placing emphasis on true remembrance of those things that we’re thankful for, is a great orientation point for anyone wanting to move in a positive direction (towards sustainable, empowered, wholesome living).

Realizing the power of this idea is one major step, but actually remembering it and applying it consistently, is the beginning of a whole other journey. This is as applicable to health and healing as it is for anything else.

Just recently I became aware of 24 year old Australian who has provided one of the most inspiring stories that I have ever heard. (I have included a few video segments of one of his talks towards the end of this post)

To me, this man is an embodiment of the power of  “Thankfulness” …an inspiration of one who has looked for, and found, those unique gifts within himself, despite his circumstances. He has since risen up to be an increasingly powerful voice in the world. His example demonstrates the same potential that lies within each of us.
